Bloating during pregnancy

What can cause bloating during pregnancy?

A bloating occurs during pregnancy for several reasons. So, it can be associated with the major changes in the hormonal background that occur in the body of a future mother. It is known that in the early stages of the body the pregnant woman synthesizes a large amount of the hormone progesterone responsible for relaxing the smooth muscles of the internal organs - this is necessary to relax the uterus and avoid miscarriage. But at the same time that under the influence of progesterone there is a relaxation of the uterus, This hormone in parallel relaxes the muscles of the intestine, preventing it from being properly emptied of accumulated gases. Starting from the second trimester and until the end of pregnancy, the baby is already growing rapidly in the womb, the uterus accordingly significantly increases in size and presses on the intestines, which causes constipation and the appearance of bloating. Also, the causes of bloating during pregnancy can be improper eating of a pregnant woman, exacerbation of chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. Associate bloating during pregnancy and with persistent stress and nervous tension, if they occur in the life of a pregnant woman; and with congenital fermentative insufficiency. In the latter case, food not digested in the stomach and small intestine due to a lack of necessary enzymes for this, falls immediately into the large intestine. Here, its further decomposition takes place with the release of a large number of gases, which provokes bloating during pregnancy.

The main conditions for eliminating this symptom are a special diet and a well-designed diet, and if necessary - and use of a carminative remedy prescribed by the doctor. A diet that avoids bloating involves minimizing the consumption of foods that contribute to the release and accumulation of a large number of gases. These are products such as legumes, cabbage, asparagus, black bread, sauerkraut, as well as large amounts of raw vegetables and fruits, fried and fatty foods. Eat often and gradually, it is advisable to switch to a fractional diet and take food 5-6 times a day in small quantities. It is recommended to observe the water regime: during the day, it is necessary to drink a sufficient amount of liquid to avoid constipation. That's just the food is better not to drink liquids, but to fill its deficiency throughout the day. In this case, drink should be from a glass, not from a bottle or through a straw, to avoid getting excess air into the stomach. Of drinks, preference is best given to kefir, weak tea, compotes, and not carbonated water that contains carbon dioxide; it is better to give up coffee, too. Take food should be sitting, eat slowly and thoroughly chewing.

To prevent, and if it has already appeared, then reduce bloating during pregnancy, it is advisable to give time to physical exertion. It will be useful even for a simple long walk in the fresh air, allowing to increase the tone of the digestive tract. Yoga, gymnastics for pregnant women, swimming - all these physical exercises will be an excellent means of preventing and eliminating bloating. Clothes, both for training and everyday, you should choose a free cut so that it does not squeeze the body in the waist and abdomen.

If you do not have any strength to fight the swelling, you should consult your doctor for advice on carminative drugs. In most cases Espumizan becomes the drug of choice: it is not absorbed into the blood and does not have any effect on the fetus, for which it is considered safe. And, nevertheless, even taking carminative drugs, one should not neglect sour-milk products, such as yogurt, fermented baked milk, yogurt: they are the container of necessary lactobacilli, which reduce gas formation in the intestine.
