This disease in the language of therapists sounds like intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnant women (VCB). If the parents of the future mother had problems with the liver, she herself faced them before conception, then during the gestation period, they can again make themselves felt. Also, the risk of intrahepatic cholestasis increases with multiple pregnancies. If the pathology has occurred in previous pregnancies, then in the subsequent chances of relapse are increased.

Signs of cholestasis of pregnant women

With severe disease in a pregnant woman, manifestations of other symptoms are also possible. They are similar to the signs of jaundice. This is nausea, darkening of the urine, yellowing of the whites of the eyes and skin, whitish feces, vomiting.

It is worth knowing that such a state is dangerous for the future baby. The risk of pathology is that labor can be premature. A baby can die in utero or in the first hours of his life. In such cases, the meconium will enter the amniotic fluid. For the woman herself, the danger of intrahepatic cholestasis is postpartum hemorrhage, and a strong one.

Diagnosis of pathology and treatment

In most cases, this diagnosis is confirmed by laboratory blood tests. Considering all the above risks, a woman is closely watched for such a woman. Specialists can advise her to give birth before the deadline, up to 37 weeks. In this case, women are prescribed medications that reduce the risk of complications of pregnancy. Medicamentous treatment consists in the intake of vitamin K, ursodeoxycholic acid, antacids.

As for the appointment of antihistamines to relieve the symptoms of itching, in this case they are ineffective. Yes, and such a drug load is extremely undesirable, it can cause negative effects. Therefore, antihistamines for intrahepatic cholestasis are not prescribed for pregnant women.

But compliance with the diet is an indispensable condition of treatment. A doctor recommends a woman to eat fractional, drink plenty of fluids. The basis of the diet should be fruits, cereals, vegetables. Vegetable products must be saturated with fiber and ascorbic acid. This salad, spinach, broccoli, citrus, tomatoes, Bulgarian pepper. Low-fat dairy products, black bread, fish are recommended. To the minimum, you need to reduce the number of animal products and fats. It is strictly forbidden to eat fatty meat, butter, mayonnaise, shop sauces, fried foods.

As for the liquid, in addition to pure filtered water, you need to drink broths of berries, fruits, herbal teas, rose hips, freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. You can not drink coffee, green tea.

To relieve the symptoms of itching, doctors advise you to apply ice to your hands and feet. It slows the blood flow - and thus the itching calms down.
