Coagulogram in pregnancy

Coagulogram during pregnancy - decoding and norm, for which analysis is needed?

It is with the goal of getting answers to these questions that doctors direct the pregnant woman to the examination. Among a number of different tests, you will have to make a coagulogram.

What is a coagulogram?

Do not be afraid of an incomprehensible word. This is an ordinary blood test that helps to investigate the hemostasis system, which during pregnancy is extremely important. To say simply and clearly: the coagulogram shows the state of coagulability of the blood and helps to identify possible disorders: increased coagulability or decrease.

Why make a coagulogram during pregnancy?

In fact, it is very important for pregnancy management. With the changes in blood clotting, many risks are associated, for example, the formation of thrombi, which can lead to thrombosis, heart attack, stroke, and when the child is born - to miscarriage or premature birth. Also, increased blood coagulability can cause serious brain damage in the fetus if the problem is not detected in time. So, in conjunction with other tests, this helps to monitor the normal course of pregnancy.

It should be noted that physiologically the system of hemostasis of a pregnant woman undergoes certain changes in a natural way (the organism is reconstructed for additional blood circulation through the uteroplacental blood flow and for future delivery in which large blood losses are possible). So to decipher the results of the analysis should only your doctor.

A coagulogram is usually performed three times during pregnancy - in each trimester. But in some situations, a woman can send in addition to this study and more than once. This need arises, for example, with varicose veins, liver, vascular and autoimmune diseases, as well as before and after the operation. If you are predisposed to an increase in blood coagulability, or if any deviations were detected during the first coagulogram, this analysis will also have to be given more often.

How is the analysis done?

The coagulogram is analyzed by taking blood from the vein. At the same time, you should be warned that blood should be given on an empty stomach - before this analysis you can not eat anything for 8 hours.

Interpretation of a coagulogram in pregnancy

When you give out the results, you get different indicators:

fibrinogen - a protein whose level during pregnancy gradually rises up to the birth itself, normally reaching a maximum of 6 g / l;

APTT is an activated partial thromboplastin time, in pregnant women, this indicator should normally be reduced to 17-20 s;

lupus anticoagulant - shows a group of antibodies that lead to the growth of APTT, so they should not normally be in pregnancy. The presence of these antibodies indicates an autoimmune disease or some pathology, for example, about gestosis;

TV - thrombin time. In pregnancy, this indicator is somewhat overstated, but still should normally remain within 11-18 seconds.

prothrombin is one of the most important indicators of coagulogram, especially during pregnancy, because its increase warns of premature placental abruption. Normally prothrombin is 78-142%.

But we once again focus your attention on that, that the results of a coagulogram should be decoded only by a doctor! Let them be alright!
