What is a bicornylum?
Among all the congenital abnormalities of the uterus, two-fold is the most common. But in general, it is diagnosed only in 0, 1-0, 5% of women. In this condition, the uterus has an irregular shape. Its cavity is split into two parts, and depending on the degree of this splitting, different types of two-sidedness are distinguished:
- at full bipartite the uterus is divided into two cavities connected by a small septum;
- the incomplete bicornic uterus is less split, the opening between the cavities is shallow;
- Saddle bicorne has the least degree of branching. It has only a small groove in the upper part in the form of a saddle, which is why the name.
How do I know about two-handedness?
Often the suspicion of the uterine duodenal arises when a woman can not become pregnant or she always has miscarriages: a child with a two-legged uterus can not easily endure. If to this also add strong uterine bleeding, then the probability that a woman has this pathology increases. Also a sign of the duodenity of the uterus may be dysmenorrhea.
Modern methods of examination allow revealing pathology. These are ultrasound, laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, hysterosalpingography.
What are the risks if the uterus is a bicorne
The higher the degree of splitting of the uterine cavity, the greater risks and difficulties a woman can face on the way to motherhood. Double-breasted uterus promises difficulties in bearing a baby, in particular - the threat of interruption of such a pregnancy. Most often this occurs in the first trimester. If pregnancy can be saved, the risks are waiting for the mother and baby during childbirth. In particular, the greatest risk of injury during labor (for both the mother and the child), the weakness of labor, the opening of bleeding.
With the two-horned uterus, various abnormalities and complications of pregnancy are observed: placenta previa, too low its location, violation of placental circulation, squeezing and improper arrangement of the fetus, iscystic-cervical insufficiency. Often, the situation is complicated by changes in the genitourinary and endocrine systems that accompany this pathology. Actually, all this in a complex and leads to a miscarriage.
What should I do?
If the real threat of abortion occurs when the baby is already able to live outside the mother's womb (from 26-28 weeks of pregnancy), a cesarean section is performed to save his life. Even if the pregnancy can be carried to the end, but the woman has this pathology, the delivery can be performed operatively due to high risks. Therefore, a pregnant woman with a two-horned uterus must certainly be under careful medical supervision. Such a woman should be friends with her gynecologist, because you will have to visit him often. And with the slightest change in state of health or suspicions of something wrong, consult a doctor. Modern medicine has reached a sufficient level to be able to keep the pregnancy with two-handedness.
Do not despair, even if the bicornate has become an obstacle in the possibility of becoming pregnant. Modern medical methods make it possible to eliminate this natural injustice. The split cavity of the two-horned uterus can be corrected by surgery.
But in most cases, if there are no additional risk factors, a woman nurtures and gives birth to a baby, without even suspecting that she has a bicornic uterus. Even with this pathology, pregnancy and childbirth can proceed quite normally. Therefore, one should never give up in such a situation. Duplicity of the uterus is not an obstacle for motherhood. Let your happiness nothing be prevented!
