How to remove stitches after birth

How are sutures removed after delivery?

About the procedure for removal of postpartum sutures

Even if a woman is patient and strong, childbirth for her is always a great stress. And when they are stitched after them, it means that everything went not so smoothly. Therefore, women do not want to experience additional discomfort during the removal of stitches. But do not worry much about this, because compared to childbirth this procedure is a trifle, not worth experiencing. And if you consider that in most cases today obstetrician-gynecologists apply seams with absorbable threads, for example, catgut, then they do not need to be removed. They dissolve themselves, that is, there is nothing to worry about at all. It is these threads that sew the incision on the abdomen after a cesarean section.

If, however, the doctor uses conventional threads to sew external and internal ruptures, he will tell when to remove them.

The procedure for the removal of stitches, rather, a strong discomfort, rather than pain. Many women compare the sensations during the period of its carrying out with a plucking of the eyebrows. That is, it is similar to point and sharp tingling. All manipulation takes about 5-10 minutes, taking into account the period of preparation and processing of wounds after stripping. The last woman feels burning and light tingle. All is not so scary, tolerant and not too painful.

Seam Care and Precautions

The main condition for proper care is cleanliness and careful hygiene. How and what to process seams, the gynecologist will tell. He will tell you when to remove them, if everything is in order. For the treatment of external sutures after childbirth, it is often recommended to use sea buckthorn and dogrose oil. They in their composition contain vitamins A and E, perfectly soften the skin, disinfect it and, thus, accelerate the healing. It is not necessary to use iodine, a solution of potassium permanganate and diamond greens, as was done in Soviet times. Such disinfection only dries out the skin, mucous, and the woman causes severe pain. Processing turns into a real torture.

In the process of healing of wounds after childbirth, each time after visiting the toilet, wash the genitals with the use of baby soap. After this, they must be carefully dried with a ironed towel. It should be cotton, without lint.

Lingerie is recommended to be worn free, from natural fabrics, not squeezing. As for the gaskets, they should be changed regularly, every two hours.

You can not sit on the buttocks with internal and external seams. After all, the pressure of the trunk creates a load, and wired breaks can suffer: seams will disperse. It is better to lie down on one side and change the position of the body, choosing a convenient support.

How long the sutures heal

Observing personal hygiene, following the doctor's recommendations, a good mood, proper nutrition are the basis for an early recovery of a woman.

The duration of the healing of the joints depends on the location of their application and the type of suture material that was used by the doctor. If these were non-absorbable threads, then they are removed on the fourth or fifth day after delivery. And the suture heals completely not earlier than 14 days, or even 30 days. Wounds, which were stitched with catgut, heal about 1-2 weeks. They completely dissolve after the expiration of a month.

To speed up the healing process, obstetrician-gynecologists are advised to perform Kegel exercises, with which most women are familiar since the period of bearing the baby. Such charging improves blood circulation in the perineal zone. Exercise is recommended to be repeated several times during the day.

So, the healing and recovery of reproductive organs depends on the thoroughness of observing the personal hyena, the doctor's recommendations, the state of woman's immunity, the absence of problems with the circulatory system, the age of the mother and her emotional state.
