The main purpose of vaginal gel or Krainon suppositories is to prepare the endometrium of the uterus for implantation of the embryo. The hormone progesterone contained in the drug weakens the contraction of the uterine muscles and tubes, inhibits the release of the hormones of the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, that is, prevents ovulation.

Indications for use

This drug is prescribed for hormone replacement therapy, as well as in the absence of menstruation associated with abnormalities in the ovaries and uterus. Often it is used for uterine bleeding. But most often Krajnon is appointed in case of insufficiency of luteal phase with artificial insemination.

Dosage and methods of application

For patients with luteal insufficiency during artificial insemination, this drug is prescribed from the first day of embryo transfer. Duration of treatment is 30 days. The gel is used in an amount of 90 g (one applicator), inserting it inside the vagina. If candles are used, they are also administered intravenously one at a time before bedtime.

With uterine bleeding, as well as the absence of menstruation, not related to pregnancy and breastfeeding, the gel is administered in an amount of 90 mg, starting from the 15th to the 25th day of the menstrual cycle.

As a hormone replacement therapy, Krajonon is used on 90-180 mg (1-2 applicators) twice a day.

When a threat of miscarriage caused by low levels of progesterone, The gel is injected into the vagina during the first trimester of pregnancy.

Special notes

During treatment with Krainon, the following side effects may occur:

  1. From the digestive system - stomach pain.
  2. On the part of the reproductive system - soreness of the mammary glands.
  3. Sexual organs. Rarely - in the period between menstruations, spotting is observed. It is also possible to irritate the vaginal mucosa in the place where the gel layer was applied.
  4. From the central nervous system - headaches, drowsiness, depression.

Fortunately, to date, there is no evidence of an overdose of the drug Kraynon.

Features of the use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation

Use of the hormonal drug in question during child-bearing can be only in the early stages of complex therapy with other drugs. Nursing mothers are not allowed to use it.


Krajonon's drug is not used in the following pathologies:

  • circulatory disorders in the brain;
  • uterine bleeding not associated with menstruation;
  • the period of breastfeeding;
  • frozen pregnancy;
  • blood vessel diseases associated with the formation of thrombi;
  • malignant neoplasms in the mammary glands or genitals;
  • porphyria;
  • Hypersensitivity to progesterone or other components of the drug.

In addition, it is prescribed with caution in epilepsy, as well as with cardiac, renal and hepatic insufficiency.

Interaction with other drugs

Grain "Krainon" is not recommended for use in combination with similar drugs that are used intaginally.
