However, today, when we are already without 5 minutes of our mother, and well-read and sometimes too educated, we began to treat all medicines with caution, even such seemingly innocuous as Mukaltin.
Nevertheless, almost all pregnant women for the entire period of bearing a child at least once, but will get flu or cold. And the question of treatment rises very sharply: it is absolutely necessary to be treated, that's just what?
Mukaltin: instructions for use
Mukaltin is a time-tested expectorant, Anti-inflammatory and enveloping agent that acts locally. Its effect is due to the ingredients contained in the tablets. It is an extract of the root of the althaea medicinal, tartaric acid, a mixture of polysaccharides, sodium hydrogen carbonate.
Mukaltin is used in the treatment of lower respiratory tract diseases, accompanied by hard-to-separate viscous sputum: bronchitis, tracheitis, pneumonia, influenza, colds and others. It is very important to understand this and take into account: with a dry cough, when there is no secret in the bronchi, Mukaltin does not help. But with a damp, unproductive cough (when mucus does not go away) it can be very useful, as it dilutes sputum and helps it to be taken out. Moreover, simultaneously Mukaltin prevents the development of the inflammatory process in the bronchi due to the accumulation of sputum there.
Another property of Mukaltin is a decrease in irritation of the mucous membrane, which is achieved due to the plant mucus contained in the marshmallow.
Mucaltin is effective for a damp cough accompanying bronchitis, laryngitis, pharyngitis, asthma, pneumonia, tracheitis and other respiratory tract diseases.
Can Mukaltin be used during pregnancy?
Mukaltin is considered a safe drug and is prescribed even for children - this is something we know. But here the newborn infants (up to 1 year) the drug is contraindicated. Therefore, when breastfeeding it is not recommended. And what about pregnancy?
There are no direct contraindications to the use of the drug during the period of bearing the child in the instruction. However, it should be borne in mind that marshmallows in their pure form are forbidden for women in the first trimester of pregnancy. Mukaltin himself requires some caution in using:
- patients with diabetes mellitus;
- for peptic ulcer diseases in the acute period;
- with individual intolerance of the drug components.
You can not combine Mukaltin with antitussive drugs. In addition, be prepared for side effects (nausea, stomach pain, allergic reactions).
Thus, treatment with Muciltin during pregnancy is not prohibited, but should only be carried out according to the doctor's prescription and under his supervision. Usually, this is an average for adults dosage: 1-2 tablets 3-4 times a day before meals, and the last reception should take place a few hours before bedtime. Duration of admission is determined individually, until the sputum begins to clear. As a rule, this takes no more than two weeks.
Of great importance is the correct way of taking Mukultin: be sure to ask your doctor about this. Suck pills, as we are accustomed to, it's wrong: you need to dissolve the crushed tablet in a small amount of warm water and drink.
