Periods of birth

Periods of delivery and their course

Of course, you will find out, how the childbirth is going on - you simply do not have another way out because you need to give birth (if you do not see a cesarean section). But aware - then armed. And before embarking on practice it will be useful to learn a bit of theory.

The entire generic process proceeds consecutively, one period is replaced by the following. Undoubtedly, the births of each woman are different: easy and difficult, swift and prolonged, simple and with complications. But until the baby will appear, a series of events should occur. And the whole process is divided into three periods.

The first period of birth - the period of disclosure

Since the first battle, the generic process is put into action. The first period is the longest of all. It can last several hours and even a day (although this is very undesirable) and ends with the full opening of the uterine throat.

Childbirth begins with the fact that the cervix softens, becomes thinner, the uterus itself begins to contract, which you feel in the form of fights. At first they are less painful and intense: they last 15-30 seconds and repeat every 15-20 minutes. But gradually the intervals are reduced, and the battles themselves become more prolonged.

If you do not expect with the fear of pain, then you may not even notice the beginning of this period. Often, women feel only sipping at the waist, and pain is a consequence of her waiting. But all, of course, individually: a woman can feel severe pain as with menstruation, pain in the sacrum, the emotional state can vary greatly.

If you put your hand to your stomach, you will feel that the uterus is hard enough. Hence, the birth began. The first contractions can be accompanied by nausea, upset stomach. Help yourself: breathe through your nose, smoothly, deeply and calmly, relax between contractions.

  1. The latent phase occurs when the regular rhythm of contractions is established: they are repeated every 10 minutes from the same intensity. To fall asleep and even to rest is already becoming impossible: true struggles began. It is at this time that doctors recommend that a pregnant woman be sent to the hospital (this applies to women whose pregnancy was normal without complications). The latent phase lasts from 5 hours in the re-birth to 6, 5 hours for the primiparous and passes into the next phase, when the uterus is already open at 4 cm;
  2. the active phase is characterized by increased activity of labor activity. Contractions become more frequent, strong, prolonged and painful, repeated every 4-5 minutes and last from 40 seconds to a minute. Pain in the sacrum and perineum increases, the woman feels tired. If the bubble does not burst in the first phase, it can happen now. During the most intense contractions, perform respiratory gymnastics. Walk, often change the pose - to make it easier and more convenient for you. The active phase lasts 1, 5-3 hours, until the opening of the uterine throat reaches 8 cm;
  3. the deceleration phase speaks for itself: the labor activity gradually weakens and ends with the full opening of the cervix to 10-12 cm. If you have a desire to empty the intestines - hold your breath. Toughening now is impossible - this can provoke swelling of the cervix and delay delivery. You may be thrown into fever or cold, nausea or dizziness may occur - the working uterus takes a lot of oxygen and the brain lacks it. The respiratory gymnastics is very helpful. And remember that most of the generic process is already over. This phase lasts from 15 minutes to an hour or two.

However, everything can go in a different scenario. Contractions - this is only one of the possible options for the onset of labor. And it is during this period that in most cases a ruptured bladder rupture occurs. But water can begin to leak prematurely. If you have run out of water or started leaking (at least two tablespoons), change the laundry, put a clean hygiene pad, Lie down and call an ambulance - you can not move now. The fetus is no longer protected by the membrane, and infection can easily come to it. In addition, flowing out, water could carry along the umbilical cord - there is a risk of it pressing (in this case, the birth will need to be called immediately). In the recumbent position, the level of danger is reduced, so during transportation it is necessary to lie down or lie down.

And it happens, for example, that a woman notices spotting - before delivery, the mucous plug that closes the cervix, and its exit into the vagina, is expelled. You will notice this in the form of new selections. They can appear before childbirth or at their first stage.

If the blood is very bright (bleeding has started) or the emitted amniotic fluid is dark or green - call your doctor. The same applies to the situation when you stopped hearing a child.

If everything is normal, it's very important to rest now (when you saw that the labor begins). This is possible only at the very beginning - later it will not work out. So lie down and relax, it's good if you get to sleep. Do not worry that something is going to sleep. At the right time, bouts will certainly wake you up. Just do not lie on your back. And do not sit in anticipation of childbirth: if you can not sleep, take yourself into something to distract yourself. In the first period of labor, you need to remain active as long as possible. However, next to you should already be someone close - do not stay alone.

When the first bouts began, do not overeat. To have a bite, most likely, all will be necessary, after all it is not known, as for a long time deliveries will be tightened. Yes, and refresh yourself will not hurt. In addition, snacking helps to avoid nausea in case of need for anesthesia. Just do not overeat and choose light food: your body will be busy giving birth, and it is undesirable for him to be distracted by digesting food.

Second period of labor - expulsion period

The longest and most difficult stage behind - the cervix is ??completely open for passage of the fetus. And as soon as it happened - the baby's head begins to enter the mother's pelvis. The most important period starts, which will end with the birth of the child. And you will help him in this now.

In the second period, contractions occur every 2-3 minutes, and attempts are now added to them - reflex contractions of the striated muscles of the abdominal, diaphragm, pelvic floor. These contractions push the fetus through the birth canal. The success of the process will depend on how correctly a woman is pushing and breathing. Ideally, if the attempts are frequent and short, this ensures sufficient oxygen supply to the child.

Everything happens relatively quickly: in primiparous women, the period of exile lasts 1-2 hours, the moths can cope earlier (even in 15 minutes). Depending on the effectiveness of the fights and attempts, the size of the child, the location of his head, the size of the pelvis of the woman in labor, the process may occur faster or slower. You have to push yourself to the point of maximum pain - this is the only way to help your child get out. This is a hard and often very painful job, but it is very important and what's nice is that it does not last long. Remember that only you can and should do this. Think about that, that the baby is now no less difficult than you - help him.

A woman as if feels the urge to empty the intestines, thereby pushing the baby out. If there is a threat of rupture of the perineum - an incision is made between the vagina and rectum. Follow the instructions of the medical staff. There will be times when it is necessary to exert myself especially diligently or vice versa - for the time being to stop attempts. Between attempts, you need to rest: relax, wash with cold water, have a drink. At the time of exertion, breathe quickly, often, briefly, with a slightly opened mouth.

And now the doctor already sees the head! As soon as at the moment of attempts she stops hiding back into the pelvis of the woman in childbirth - the midwife will gently remove the newborn into this light.

The umbilical cord is clamped and cut - it is absolutely painless for the mother and newborn procedure, since there are no nerve endings in the umbilical cord. A baby is shown happy and exhausted (although it is not necessary) to my mother. Ask for crumbs to be put on your chest - it will calm down, adapting to a new world and new habitat conditions will be more smooth, because the baby will feel the rhythm of your heart, feel your mother's scent. This reunion moment will never be recreated! Therefore it is very healthy if the pope will also be present with his family.

Applying to the breast will accelerate the arrival of milk - after all the body receives a signal that the delivery has successfully taken place and the baby needs breast milk. Also, the separation of the placenta will be faster, which will accelerate the third stage of labor.

The third period of labor - the postpartum

So, the baby was safely born, but for the mother, the birth was not over yet. Now you need to give birth to the placenta. Soon after the appearance of the baby, the woman feels postnatal fights and attempts, accompanied by the release of blood, so at the end on the bottom of the abdomen, an uterus with an ice pack is put on.

The postpartum period lasts 10-12 minutes, a maximum of half an hour. But this is not at all those battles and attempts that in the second period - much easier and softer. After the birth of the placenta, the uterus shrinks dramatically. If the mother has breaks or incisions, they are immediately sewn up.

Now she is a mother. Feelings can be very different - fatigue, unexpected burst of energy, immense happiness and joy. Many women experience a feeling of thirst or hunger, many are shivering. All the puerperas, after completion of labor, have abundant spotting.

Still for about two hours, mother and child stay in the maternity ward under supervision and after they are transferred to the birth chamber.

An unforgettable period of your life behind & hellip;
