Pregnancy after cleansing

Is pregnancy possible after cleansing?

A few words about the procedure

Scraping (or cleaning) is an operation whose purpose is to remove the contents of the uterus and the lining of the uterus. In simple words, the uterus is "cleaned", and the scraped material is sent to a laboratory for research. Scrape not all the mucous membrane of the uterus (it is called the endometrium), but only the upper, functional layer. After cleansing, a new mucosa grows from the germ layer of the endometrium, which is important not to "hook" during the procedure.

Carried out in the hospital, most commonly under general or local anesthesia. Scraping is a full-fledged operation, so prepare for it according to all the rules in advance. The doctor must conduct a full examination of the woman on the eve of the procedure to exclude contraindications to the operation, as well as clarify the indications for cleaning, and also determine the shape and position of the uterus. Carry out scraping with the help of various instruments (blunt and sharp curettes, forceps for removal of the fetal egg, uterine probe, bullet forceps, vaginal mirrors, dilators of the cervical canal and others). Before cleaning, both the external genitalia, and the vagina, and the cervix are treated with alcohol solutions of iodine, then they are cleaned themselves, and after the operation is completed, the organs are also treated with antiseptics, and ice is placed on the abdomen (the cold contributes to uterine contraction).

In the postoperative period, a woman should be attentive to her body. It is especially important to observe the nature of bleeding, because they give the first signal about complications. Bleeding after cleansing resemble the usual menstrual period, lasting no more than 10 days, accompanied by painful pains in the lower abdomen. If the discharge stops much earlier, or has an unpleasant smell, brown, then you should immediately go to the doctor.

And now, in fact, we will return to the main question: when will the pregnancy come after cleansing. As already mentioned, much depends on the purpose for which the woman was scraped.

Diagnostic-medical cleansing and pregnancy

Very often, a woman is prescribed purging to diagnose possible pathologies of the uterine cavity, especially if pregnancy does not occur for a long time. Pathological processes in the uterine cavity can be detected using ultrasound, however, which pathology affected the endometrium will show the results of the histological examination. Thanks to this curettage, the doctor makes an accurate diagnosis, prescribes treatment and, accordingly, draws conclusions about a possible pregnancy.

Recently, many doctors oppose diagnostic curettage, and recommend completely switching to hysteroscopy - this is the same cleaning, but "not blindly." A tube with a sensor at the end is inserted into the uterine cavity and the image of the test cavity is transferred to the screen. Then a piece of tissue is scraped out with a special "tool", which is examined under a microscope. It turns out that with the help of hysteroscopy, only the "suspicious" portion of the endometrium is destroyed, and not all of its layer is scraped off.

Hysteroscopy is also justified for medical purposes, Since the sensor shows how well the unnecessary formations are removed. However, most often "cleaned" a woman blindly.

Therapeutic curettage is performed with uterine fibroids, uterus polyps and its neck to remove them. Sometimes by the method of cleansing, endometriosis and other diseases are treated. Perform a medical curettage before the menstruation (at this time the mucous membrane of the uterus is almost ready for independent physiological rejection), otherwise (if curettage is carried out in the middle of the cycle), you can achieve "hormonal contradictions."

It is clear that a medical cleansing should help a woman get pregnant. It happens if there were no complications in the postoperative period, and the procedure was performed correctly and the treatment was carried out. However, it is not worth hurrying, you need to give the body a break and recover. 2-3 months after the procedure, you can begin to conceive. Unsuccessful attempts over a period of several months should be the occasion for an appeal to a specialist.

Cleaning-abortion and pregnancy

More bleak are the consequences of cleaning-abortion for subsequent pregnancies. However, here again it is necessary to distinguish concepts. If scraping was carried out to remove the fetal egg, it is customary to talk about an abortion, which many women also call purging. Although recently, just abortion-cleansing is a rarity. Nevertheless, there are other unpleasant indications for scraping. So, only this method removes the undeveloped or frozen fruit, as well as the remains of the fetal egg after spontaneous miscarriage. Frozen or ectopic pregnancy almost always require a curettage.

What will happen with the subsequent pregnancy after such cleansing? Doctors console: if the frozen or undeveloped pregnancy has come for the first time - despair is not necessary. However, after scraping, all scraping is sent to the laboratory for research, and the woman herself should be examined completely and completely.

Separately, I want to mention the termination of pregnancy in the early stages of the method of curettage. And it's not even that we become murderers (the payment for this sin will make itself felt and sometimes it can be unbearable). Speaking not on the "spiritual", but "medical" language, the consequences of abortion are still disappointing. Uterine perforation, uterine bleeding (which is life-threatening), hematomas, infection and inflammation of the uterine mucosa, excessive scraping (which damages the growth layer of the endometrium) - all this in consequence can lead to infertility - these are gloomy predictions that you should think about before agreeing to "cleanse" your body of a new life.

We sincerely wish you an easy pregnancy, and let you not have to experience all the "delights" of cleansing yourself.
