Signs of leakage of amniotic fluid

Leaking amniotic fluid can occur at any stage of pregnancy. How can you not miss it and get help from a doctor in time? This is our article.

First of all, let's find out what amniotic fluid is and why they are needed. The amniotic fluid is in the bladder and is the environment of the baby for 9 months. The amount of water can change constantly and only before birth their volume decreases. The amniotic fluid promotes the normal development of the baby, protects the child from pressure by the walls of the uterus and from external physical influences. In addition, amniotic fluid is a reliable barrier against the penetration of pathogenic microorganisms.

If the pregnancy is normal, then ample leakage of amniotic fluid occurs at a period not less than 38 weeks of pregnancy. Not to recognize this process is rather difficult, because at a time about half a liter of water comes out of the body. It has a slight specific odor, and then there are growing fights.

Much more difficult when there is a premature discharge of amniotic fluid. It is quite difficult to determine the signs of such leakage. The fact is that the liquid, it happens, is emitted by drops over a long period. Therefore, a pregnant woman can simply not notice anything.

Moreover, even during a gynecological examination, the doctor does not always notice such leakage. It is best to conduct a series of laboratory tests if suspected. For this, an appropriate swab from the rear vault of pregnancy is taken. If leakage is still found, then there should be elements of amniotic fluid.

The leakage of the amniotic fluid can be detected by yourself, using an express test at home. To do this, you first need to go to the toilet and maximally empty the bladder. Next, get washed and get well. Place a clean, dry sheet on the bed and lie down. In a calm state, you need to lie down about fifteen minutes. After that, if you see a damp spot, then call an ambulance and then you can determine the exact nature of the secretions.

Unfortunately, if leakage occurs in the early stages of pregnancy, then there is no other way out than abortion. The thing is, that all attempts at preserving pregnancy resulted in severe septic complications in both the mother and the child.

In the risk group, women with inflammatory processes of the vagina and cervix are the first to have this problem. It is under the influence of these microorganisms that the fetal bladder becomes thinner and loses its elasticity.

Also the leakage of amniotic fluid can occur in pregnant women who are physically abused or have a reckless fall.
