It is clear that the female body is preparing for the birth of a child, significantly changes and adapts to the needs of the baby. Therefore, the future mother should equip herself with knowledge of any possible discomfort in her body so that she does not need to worry about situations in vain.
Causes of pain in the navel during pregnancy
As already mentioned, during pregnancy, the mother's body changes internally and externally. The tummy grows little by day, and at about 12-13 weeks, it can feel unpleasant pain in the navel. In most cases, this is the usual "behavior" of the navel during pregnancy and is quite normal.
The reason for this discomfort is that the skin and abdominal muscles that are around the navel are stretched. This will tell you and a strong itch that appears when stretching the skin. Also, similar pain in the navel is caused by weakened muscles of the abdominal press. After you give birth to a baby, all the unpleasant sensations will disappear. Therefore, if you have not been diagnosed with other diseases that can cause pain in the navel, you will have to endure several months. To ease yourself a little, try constantly or at least most of the time to wear a bandage.
Sometimes a future mother may scare the look of the navel itself. In late pregnancy, it is well marked on the tummy and becomes convex, as if turning outward. After giving birth almost completely in all women, the navel acquires the original form, so do not worry at all. But doctors advise nevertheless to address to the surgeon because such "turned out" navel can also testify about the presence of a hernia.
When to worry with umbilicic pain
In most cases, the expectant mother should not disturb the pain in the navel. But in this it still must assure the doctor. The danger exists if a woman has such "umbilical" discomfort provoked certain pathologies or diseases. Here are some of them.
Appendicitis. If it was not possible to get rid of this vermiform appendage of the caecum before pregnancy, then it is not a fact that he will not "wake up" with acute pain at the most inopportune moment. When the future mother has a baby, the appendix moves slightly upward, closer to the navel. And although the statistics show that the inflammation of the appendix occurs during pregnancy very rarely, one should know its symptoms:
- acute pain in the lower abdomen, which "beats" in the hypochondrium or on the side of the right side;
- nausea and vomiting;
- elevated body temperature.
In this case, immediately consult a doctor. You will need urgent surgical intervention.
Strangulated hernia. Often, the future mother's pain in the navel indicates the presence of a small hernia. First, a woman may not know about her, because she does not feel any discomfort. But if you suddenly feel the following symptoms, immediately call for an ambulance:
- acute, unpredictable pain in the navel;
- Severe vomiting;
- stool retention.
If you have an umbilical hernia, you will need an urgent operation. It is necessary to prevent the dying of the intestine.
Intestinal infection or food poisoning. The belly can also be ill with gastroenteritis, inflammation of the intestine or stomach. To this, the following symptoms are added:
- nausea and vomiting;
- increase in body temperature to 38 degrees;
- a constant sense of thirst;
Harmful microorganisms can cause intestinal infection or poisoning. As a rule, they penetrate into the gastrointestinal tract if the future mother does not wash her hands, vegetables or fruit. The tone of the intestine rises and provokes the same increase in the tone of the uterus. And this is very dangerous and fraught with the threat of miscarriage or premature birth. If you notice these symptoms, immediately call an ambulance, and before the arrival of doctors, take activated charcoal. In the hospital you will be examined and, possibly, placed in a hospital. You will also be prescribed a strict diet: boiled lean meat, cereals, baked vegetables and fruits, bread from bran, low-fat kefir and cottage cheese.
The pathology of the stomach, liver and pancreas. The cause of acute pain in the navel area of ??a future mother may be various gastroenterological diseases. They arise because of the restructuring of the whole organism during pregnancy. The intestines and stomach are not used to new "conditions", and therefore, biliary dyskinesia, chronic gastroduodenitis or pancreatitis can become more acute.
If a pregnant woman eats a lot of fat, fried and salty foods, experiencing great stress, allows themselves to drink alcohol, then it can inflame the pancreas. A woman should be alerted to the following symptoms:
- pain in the upper abdomen and near the navel after eating;
- a sharp drop in blood pressure;
- nausea and vomiting;
If you feel unwell in the area of ??the stomach, pancreas or liver, call a doctor. Probably, you will have to spend a few days on a strict diet and lie down in a hospital under the supervision of specialists.
Kidney and bladder diseases. Sometimes the pain can be localized not in the navel itself, but slightly lower. In this case, you feel discomfort during urination and very often run to the toilet "on a small". Perhaps you have cystitis or another urological pathology. Do not hesitate, do not self-medicate. Consult a doctor who will prescribe special medications for you.
Gynecological complications. The waist and lower abdomen hurts, there were unpleasant sensations in the navel, you noticed a discharge, and the uterus seemed to "petrify" inside - again, call your obstetrician-gynecologist urgently. Such symptoms are not jokes, they can indicate a threat of miscarriage.
So, the navel of a future mother may be sick for various reasons. In any case, do not worry much and panic. Listen to your body, know about the symptoms of certain diseases, ask for help from a doctor. And most importantly - do not be nervous. Excess stress to your baby, you do not need.
