The norm of progesterone in women

The norm of progesterone in the blood of women

The role of progesterone in the female body

The hormone progesterone is actively produced by the yellow body before the conception period. That is, it is produced from the period of ovulation and until the sixteenth week of pregnancy. If the conception did not take place (the female ovum was not fertilized), the production of this hormone ceases, the woman comes on a monthly basis according to her schedule.

A woman who plans a pregnancy and wants to give birth to a healthy baby needs to know that progesterone is the basis of the reproductive function of the body. How calcium is needed for healthy bones, vitamins A, E for healthy hair, motor activity for a healthy spine, and progesterone is necessary for a healthy pregnancy. It is the main female hormone that helps the introduction of the fetal egg into the wall of the uterus, while reducing active contractions of her muscles and thus preventing rejection of the embryo. This happens quite often if there are violations of the norm of progesterone, and this explains the spontaneous abortion of pregnancy. Low progesterone in a future mother simply does not help maintain the endometrium of the uterus in a state favorable for carrying the fetus.

And this female hormone actively helps to rebuild the female body and prepare it for breastfeeding, contributing to milk production of milk.

Dependence of progesterone on the menstrual cycle

The level of the main female hormone in the body is different in different phases of the cycle.

In the first phase, the progesterone indicator rises. By the time of ovulation, this indicator is at the highest level. After ovulation and the resulting conception, the concentration in the blood of the progesterone is still growing and thereby creates favorable conditions for development for the fertilized egg.

If during the period of ovulation the pregnancy does not occur, then the level of the main female hormone gradually decreases to the rate that was at the beginning of the cycle, that is, in the pre-ovulatory phase. After this comes the next menstruation.

You should know that it is in the phase after ovulation, which lasts about ten days, that the most active work of progesterone begins. It is about the preparation of the endometrium of the uterus for the implantation of a fertilized egg as the basis for bearing the baby's mom. And when the progesterone indicator in this period does not correspond to the norm, then the pregnancy does not come or at the earliest it's possible a miscarriage.

Indicators of progesterone in different phases of the cycle

Different indicators of the level of the main female hormone depend on various factors. The main among them - pregnancy, the intake of hormonal drugs, the onset of menopause. But also taking into account these three circumstances, the progesterone parameters in a healthy woman should correspond to certain figures depending on the menstrual cycle.

So, in the follicular phase, the progesterone rate is from 0, 32 to 2, 25 nmol / l; in ovulatory - from 0, 49 to 9, 41 nmol / l; in the luteal - from 6, 95 to 56, 63 nmol / l; in postmenopause - no higher than 0, 64 nmol / l.

By the way, progesterone in addition to its main reproductive function has a number of others. So, this hormone helps to convert fatty tissue into energy, prevents the appearance of fibrous cysts, helps normalize the level of sugar in the body. Therefore, the normal level of this hormone is important for a woman throughout her life.

So, a woman who wants to give birth to a healthy, strong baby should plan her pregnancy. One of the stages of this planning is a medical examination with determining the level of progesterone in the body. The normal index of the main female hormone is the pledge of the onset of conception and the healthy bearing of the baby by his mother.
