Treatment of pyelonephritis in pregnancy

Treatment of pyelonephritis with pregnancy

Pyelonephritis is a rather dangerous disease in pregnancy. It can affect the fetus. If you are suspected of pyelonephritis, then you should be treated immediately.

The very principle of treatment depends on the period of pregnancy, from the pathogen and its sensitivity to drugs, as well as the reaction of urine. Basically, pyelonephritis is treated therapeutically:

  • prescribe antibiotics and uroantiseptics;
  • apply positional therapy;
  • catheterize the ureters using a stent catheter;
  • Sometimes it is necessary to carry out operations, for example, nephrectomy, kidney decapsulation or dissection of ulcers;
  • Carry out disintoxication therapy and physiotherapy.

If you are in doubt about any doctor's appointments, then make sure that you do not have antibiotics of tetracycline and levomycetin in pregnancy. Also, do not use biseptol, long-acting sulfanilamides, furazolidone, fluoroquinolone, streptomycin. All these substances have a very negative effect on the fetus. In particular, they can interfere with the formation of the skeleton of the fetus, the hematopoietic system, and the organs of hearing.

If you are diagnosed with acute pyelonephritis, then you will have to be treated in a hospital. Such pregnant women are prescribed antibacterial therapy. Initially, drugs are administered intravenously and intramuscularly, and then they switch to oral administration. The course of treatment itself is no less than two weeks. At the same time, the effectiveness of therapy can be estimated already two days after the start of treatment.

If pyelonephritis is not accompanied by high blood pressure, then pregnancy is not interrupted artificially. But if the violation of renal functions leads to a violation of protein metabolism and increased blood pressure, then the pregnancy is often interrupted.

Basically, pyelonephritis is dangerous because it requires antibiotics. If the usual renal dysfunction causes complications, it leads to the loss of the child. This can happen at any time of pregnancy.

Prevent the emergence of the disease can be due to correct and timely prevention. First of all, when you are pregnant, take care of yourself carefully. Avoid any hypothermia, do not eat a lot of fried, smoked and salted. Also for prevention, it is recommended to drink at least one and a half liters of liquid per day. Of course, do not forget about the rules of personal hygiene.
