Even a schoolboy will tell you that the core of a walnut looks like a human brain, and it's no accident: the nuclei are able to dilate blood vessels and enhance brain activity, improve memory. But this is not their only property. It is difficult to find an ailment, in the treatment of which the walnut tree would be powerless. Various parts of it are applied externally and internally in the treatment of a variety of diseases and disease states.

The use of kernels of walnuts is recommended for the treatment and prevention of atherosclerosis - they have beneficial effects on the heart and blood vessels. Walnuts are able to lower blood sugar (therefore recommended in food for patients with diabetes mellitus).

Walnut kernels have a beneficial effect on the human nervous system, protect the body from harmful radioactive radiation, and have an easy diuretic effect. Hippocrates also said that nuts are useful in diseases of the kidneys, liver, stomach, brain and heart.

With excess weight, walnuts will serve as an excellent nutritious snack, satisfying the constant feeling of hunger and reducing cravings for sweets. And during pregnancy this property is also successfully used by women with large weight gain. In addition, walnuts are recommended for the prevention of anemia.

It is known, that the nutrition of the future mother should be rich in vitamins and trace elements, and walnuts are suitable for this as well as possible. In their composition they surpass even vegetables and fruits. Mature nuclei are rich in calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium, zinc, copper, phosphorus, cobalt, sulfur, iodine, nickel, strontium, chromium. They contain vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B12, C, K, E, PP, cellulose, phytoncides, quinones, sitosterones, sterols, gallotanins, juglon, tannins, essential oil. But most of all they are appreciated for the high content of polyunsaturated fatty and essential amino acids (oleic, linoleic, linolenic, palmitic, gallic and elagic), as well as proteins. It's not for nothing that a walnut is called a tree of life!

However, it is the high protein content in the walnut kernels that is one of the main reasons, on which their consumption during pregnancy should be substantially limited.

Harm of walnut during pregnancy

In general, a normal healthy person should not eat more than 100 g of nuts per day. Such a norm covers the daily requirement of the organism in the protein, and all that is more is not absorbed by it. But for pregnant women protein in large quantities is potentially dangerous - it can provoke strong allergies and cause a predisposition to allergic diseases in the fetus. Therefore, daily use of walnuts in the second and third trimesters is contraindicated. Moreover, they are very caloric.

You can eat no more than a couple of cores 2, a maximum of 3 times a week. It is important that the nuts are raw - when heat treated, they do not just lose their useful properties, but also emit toxic oils.

When using walnuts in large quantities, rashes in the mouth, inflammation of the tonsils, severe headaches and disruption of the gastrointestinal tract may occur.

If you are prone to constipation, which is not rare during pregnancy, it is better to give up walnuts or pamper yourself with them very rarely and in very moderate amounts - literally 1-2 pieces.

With colds, colitis, ulcers and dermatological skin diseases, walnuts are recommended to be completely excluded from the diet.

Tips and Tricks

If you eat your homemade nuts, it is important to store them in suitable conditions - only in a peel and in a cool place. The rind protects the core from the penetration of moisture and light and retains their properties for many years. Keep the cleaned nuts in a sealed package in the freezer. When stored in dampness, walnut kernels are affected by toxic fungi and become unsuitable for consumption.

If you buy nuts on the market, then choose raw walnuts. Always wash them thoroughly (even peeled), because there is a lot of dust and dirt on the surface of walnuts.

Thoroughly chew or grind walnuts during meals. And if you want the healing nuclei to digest better, then pre-soak them in water.

Remove the spasm of the head vessels and calm the headache during pregnancy will help 3-4 kernels of walnut with honey. It is also an excellent remedy for insomnia and nervous disorders, stress and shock. With iron deficiency anemia, prepare a delicious mixture of pounded walnut kernels, chopped together with lemon peel and natural honey. You can recommend the use of walnuts in the last days of pregnancy - they help increase lactation. And with hemorrhoids, walnut oil will help, as it promotes the healing of cracks.
