Crossing the legs of a pregnant woman and varicosity
The onset of pregnancy is always a change in the body of a woman. With the bearing of a child in the behavior of a woman there are many prohibitions. One of them is a ban on sitting in your favorite position on your leg. Earlier, in the days of our grandmothers, this was due to the fact that a child can be born with crooked feet or a toed. But from a medical point of view, the baby's crooked legs are more likely to be caused by a deficiency of vitamin D (ergocalciferol) and rickets, but not in the pose of a mother with crossed legs during pregnancy. By the way, a similar prejudice also concerned the tight swaddling of a child. A pier, not bandaging the legs over the diaper with a special tape leads to the formation of child's crooked legs. Of course, these are rather prejudices, a tribute to traditions.
But there is a reasonable explanation for the taboo on crossing the legs while sitting in a pregnant woman. In this position, the veins on her lower limbs are simply pinched. A pregnant woman is threatened with the appearance of varicose veins, especially if there is a genetic predisposition to this. Varicose veins always contribute to the stagnation of blood in the legs and, as a result, puffiness. Varicosity threatens and so, which leads to the formation of thrombi. This is already a threat of bearing a child. Therefore, when identifying the symptoms of varicose veins on the legs, you should wear a special knitwear compression action, regularly perform exercises to improve blood flow in the limbs. You also need to lie more often, while lifting your legs above your head. You can just put them on the pillows. This will promote the flow of blood from the legs and reduce the likelihood of thrombosis.
What else threatens a pregnant pose with crossed legs?
In addition, the pose with crossed legs worsens blood circulation in the pelvic organs, and this negatively affects the development of the future child. In particular, deterioration of blood circulation can lead to intrauterine hypoxia. At a small gestation period, this leads to abnormalities in the development of the fetus, and on later - to premature birth.
Another long sitting in this position is harmful to the spine. Pregnancy very often displaces the center of gravity of a woman's body and increases the burden on the dorsal muscles. There is such a feature of osteochondrosis and pain.
Some doctors believe that it is especially dangerous to stay in a posture with baptized legs in late pregnancy, that is, starting at 34 weeks. This is explained by the fact that in such a mother's pose the head of the child may be located incorrectly, because of this there are pains in the pubic area. But it should be borne in mind that in later terms it is not so convenient to sit in such a pose: the tummy prevents!
Psychologists say that crossing arms and legs is a kind of protection of a person from negative external influences. That is, in this way, we, without knowing it ourselves, we protect ourselves from envy, evil people, bad thoughts, negativity, directed at us consciously or involuntarily. But a pregnant woman does not fit such protection, it is better to wear a cross. And by and large, if you have to sit for a long time, the posture of your legs should be changed: pull them out, put them on your toes, connect your knees, and get them by the legs of the chair. And if you are sitting on a chair for 20-30 seconds, take a pose on the leg leg, then during this time nothing terrible will happen. Listen to all the recommendations without fanaticism! It's good that it has a measure!
