What from food to take with you to the maternity home

Of course, that will not spoil, so as not to risk their own and bad health. God grant that you will give birth quickly, but the case can be delayed in earnest, and after that you can go on for a long time. So the products taken should be fresh no matter whether you eat them after a few hours or two days.

It is convenient to bring along a dry biscuit (gallet, oatmeal), drying, crackers. It can be dried fruits (raisins, apples, prunes, but with dried apricots cautiously) or fresh fruit (for example, green apples and bananas, but not all recommend).

Do not forget about drinking. Drinking will not just be very desired, but it will be necessary. An excellent option in the first post-partum days - non-carbonated mineral water, birch sap, natural weak teas without additives.

What to order in the maternity ward for lunch

However, sooner or later the family will come to congratulate her mother, certainly bringing her a refreshment hot. What can you eat in the hospital?

The answer to this question can be ambiguous. For many years, the women in the maternity ward had a special dietary table. Certain products and dishes were bound to be present, and there were no others. The first days after birth, my mother ate in a special way with the obligatory allowance for the permitted and forbidden. Today much has changed. In a few maternity hospitals this tradition is still preserved. Yes, and the newly mummies look at it a little differently than the newly-made grandmothers.

Many modern women are deeply convinced, adhere and show the effectiveness on themselves the following principle: you can eat everything that you usually eat and what you want, only carefully and a little bit. Whether it's a steak with buckwheat or orange slices in chocolate, if you're used to eating like this and you just want that kind of food - please. However, one must start with small doses and closely monitor the child's reaction: colic, rash, stool, anxiety. To keep track of it, it is convenient to keep the food diary from the first hours after delivery. So the pen and notebook can be included in the list of mandatory things that you take with you to the hospital.

However, not all are so careless. Most women in childbirth believe that something should be limited in some way. It's about frankly allergenic foods, potentially dangerous for a little man. Among them may be the following:

  • Citrus;
  • chocolate, coffee;
  • nuts (forest, peanuts, walnuts);
  • red berries and fruits and others.

Of course, you should forget for a while about mayonnaise, chips and other mucks with preservatives, emulsifiers, stabilizers and other poisons. And also it is necessary to give preference to the healthy food prepared accordingly.

In general, these mothers, although not adherents of strict diets, but advocate for some reasonable, from their point of view, restrictions. The main rule of this "nutrition model": a healthy variety.

Lists of Prohibited and Allowed Products

But what about cow's milk, cabbage, beans and wheat? - Perhaps, you will say. And also you will be right. Because there is a third point of view regarding nutrition in the hospital - the most rigid, providing a specific list of specific products that can and can not be eaten after delivery. If you are used to living by the rules, then it is for you. In any case, you should know that such products exist (more precisely, their sharing).

To protect yourself, you should know what to eat right after delivery:

  • coffee, chocolate, strong tea;
  • kvass;
  • whole cow's milk;
  • eggs;
  • bird meat;
  • liver and offal;
  • seafood, including herring;
  • citrus;
  • cabbage;
  • cucumber;
  • beans;
  • mushrooms;
  • pickles, marinades, canned goods;
  • smoked products, sausages;
  • sweet pastries;
  • Wheat.

What you can eat in the maternity hospital:

  • boiled lean meat;
  • steam cutlets;
  • Lenten soups without cabbage and legumes;
  • oatmeal and buckwheat porridge;
  • pasteurized milk, kefir, cream;
  • fruits, berries (but not kiwi or grapes);
  • stewed vegetables;
  • cookies;
  • juices, compotes, water.

Naturally, such lists can be the largest set, and all of them can differ greatly from each other. But we immediately want to warn mothers who will follow this path: there is no single more important argument in choosing your food after childbirth, than, first of all, your child's well-being after its use and, secondly, your feelings. Keep in mind that the same allergy can be literally at anything you like! The position of a product on the approved list does not guarantee that your child will not react to it. Remember at the same time that you and the baby need vitamins, trace elements, nutrients that you can and should receive now with food. So be reasonable. And let the food you choose be useful to both of you!
