Reasons for craving for salty foods
This addiction is typical of many newly mums, and this is understandable. After all, salt is a source of sodium. This microelement is indispensable in the body of every person. Without it, the normal functioning of the heart, kidneys, brain, and bladder is impossible. If we talk about future mothers, then they have a significant part of the salt reserves taken away by the baby. That's why a woman feels a natural need to make up for sodium deficiency in her body. It and leans on those products that contain salt in large quantities.
And sodium is extremely important for healthy blood circulation in the placenta. This substance is also necessary to support the optimal amount of amniotic fluid. Now it becomes clear why the majority of women increase the craving for salty foods.
It is worth noting that salt for a pregnant woman is needed in the early stages and to ensure that blood pressure is always normal. After all, in the first trimester of pregnancy, hormone progesterone is being actively produced. It is necessary for the body to support the fetus. But this substance relaxes blood vessels, so it slows blood circulation and, accordingly, lowers blood pressure. That is why so often at an early stage of bearing a baby fainting, dizziness, dyspnea, drowsiness. When a woman increases the amount of salt in the diet, the amount of water consumed by her increases accordingly. This leads to an increase in the volume of blood circulating throughout the body and increase in pressure. Then, drowsiness, dizziness, and overall well-being of a woman decrease.
As practice shows, in most cases, craving for salt in women is observed only in the first trimester of the term. After all, it is then that progesterone is more actively produced. Then its parameters are normalized, the placenta is completely formed, the salt becomes unnecessary. That's the craving for salty food.
